If I can find it at my local stores here in Hilo Hawaii, I will review it. This one is a seasonal brew by Blue Moon Brewery from Colorado.
This pours a beautiful dark amber with a nice tan head. This is not one of the strong Belgian Ale types and had a bit more of a sweet tone than I like. That did start to diminish as I continued on. It is a malty and dark with medium carbonation. The lingering sweetness is not my cup of tea, but……it is a fine ale that I enjoyed. I like a well done ale at the reasonable price, so this one is a go. I have reviewed so many high priced ales recently, if I get a drinkable, interesting ale at regular market prices, I am in. This one deserves a taste when available. It is only a seasonal though and I would pass it up for the regular Blue Moon and one try on this one was enough. Too many out there to compete with this one.
Here is what they said on the site:
It’s no secret that it gets pretty cold here in Colorado. So early on in the brewery’s history, our brewmasters wanted to create a beer that would do the trick on a snowy winter day. Today, we craft our winter wonder with roasted malts and dark. Belgian candi sugar for rich caramel and toffee notes. It’s perfect on those winter days when you’re stuck inside.
