Like I said, if they sell it in Hilo Hawaii, I will review it for this blog. This time I found a 12 pack of mixed types from Samuel Adams. I am always curious about red ales but am usually not that keen after trying. Still the best I have found is Echigo Red from Japan. I think I also like Irish red types I have found.
This one is just as advertised as “hoppy”. It is a nice red in that hoppy vein and I like it. The color is beautiful and the hops definitely jump around your mouth. This is a special edition but I believe it is good enough to be a year round offering.
Here is what the commercial description says:
Amber, smooth, and resinous, this ale was inspired by our exploration of Australian hops. We discovered that their rugged, spicy and piney character brightened a back-bone of roasted caramel malts, creating a beer with surprising depth and smoothness.
