The aromas of fresh, sweet, juicy strawberries come blasting out as soon as you open the bottle. I was thinking of something subtle like the soft strawberry in Hitachino’s Red Rice. This was more like a fruit juice with ale undertones. The finish is clean and crisp with a natural, tangy dry acidity and subtle yeast bite.
This is way too much a fruit drink rather than ale to me. I am not big on this taste but it is well done by a famous brewer. I found it enjoyable and tasty but I would not go to this one for a regular drink.
Organic is prominent on the label and it was a bit expensive at about nine bucks at my local health food store. This import from England is my first try for fruit ale. It’s ok but I think that will not be a big category for me.
